Grayson's Story

Winter 2017 • Designer Jennie Korsbon
Grayson is an amazing 6-year old boy with three sisters and a brother. He loves to play baseball, video games, and play outside.
When Grayson and his twin sister were at their 6-month well-check, he wasn’t reaching his developmental milestones like his sister. After several rounds of tests and visits to various specialists, his doctor recommended an MRI, at which point they found a brain stem tumor.
The very same kind of tumor with which our Gracie struggled.
The very same doctor that treated Gracie, is treating Grayson.
Grayson’s mom, Jessica, reached out to Gracie’s mom, Liz, through Facebook. Liz has become a rock, a friend, a consult and an angel for Grayson’s family.
Grayson’s experience with the tumor is strikingly similar and gratefully different.
Shortly after Grayson was diagnosed with the tumor at 7 mos., he powered his way through 14 months of chemo. His family circled around him and loved him, helped him, cheered him on. His community of Farmington, teachers, neighbors, and family, friends all provided patience, dinners, support, and love.
Grayson stayed healthy and vibrant, growing and learning as he should for three years, until shortly before his 5th birthday when he began to struggle again. In August of 2015, Grayson’s tumor came back. He started treatment immediately for another 14 months. Miraculously there has been significant shrinkage and Grayson is on the mend!
Gracie’s Room is honored and humbled to be creating a space for Grayson with which he can share with his brother, sisters, and friends. Where he can heal, be strong, watch baseball, read books, grow confidence and be loved by those who visit him, in a comfortable and hopeful setting.
Update: Shortly after our room reveal, Grayson's cancer returned. He underwent treatments, and is hoping to have a summer of fun ahead. A scheduled MRI will hopefully bring good news.
